listening to Rod Stewart’s

through the perception of my being

almost convinced of my place
in the universe

I will need to find
an old bike

to ride down the street

a flower in my hair, and the sparrows
in my heart
keeping pace

want for the birds
to do something different

sit beside me
put their wings
on me
