the blue lake cradles her shadow the skin of her legs sunlight the weave of her skirt the floral pattern of a flower in a vase I’d imagine her heart is planets and astronauts would want to go there
wake to day night discarded as if clothing conceive a concept invisible and felt wind is love sit with it imagine fingers that may have loved and give myself to wind
so I write this I have longed for peace with love to wake with her to pick her clothing from the floor and to happily place it on a chair
they leave take with them their clothing empty drawers like an ache wait for colors listen to silence where there is no word not your own
I have worn sadness like a cloth not held love so close that she could not cause a tear and walked on leaves that I have understood
looking harder finding nothing only clothing on a clothesline nothing alters not even seasons all is winter
